Understanding the AI Green Score

How we use artificial intelligence to verify sustainability claims and prevent greenwashing.

What is the Green Score?

The AI Green Score is a 0-100 rating that evaluates a product's overall sustainability based on multiple environmental and ethical factors. Unlike self-reported certifications, our score is calculated using artificial intelligence that analyzes verified data across five key categories.

Every score is transparent, explainable, and includes a breakdown showing exactly how it was calculated.

How We Calculate Scores

Materials (30%)

AI analyzes raw materials for renewable content, organic certification, recycled components, and toxicity. Products using sustainable, biodegradable, or renewable materials score higher.

Manufacturing (25%)

Production processes are evaluated for energy efficiency, water usage, waste generation, and carbon emissions. Fair labor practices and ethical sourcing are also factored in.

Packaging (20%)

Packaging is scored on recyclability, biodegradability, minimal material use, and whether it's made from post-consumer recycled content.

Lifecycle Impact (15%)

Long-term impact considers product durability, repairability, end-of-life disposal options, and whether the product is designed for circular economy principles.

Carbon Footprint (10%)

Total carbon emissions from production, transportation, and distribution are estimated and weighted against industry benchmarks.

Transparency Disclaimer

All Green Scores are AI-estimated based on seller-provided data and publicly available information. While we use advanced algorithms to verify claims and detect inconsistencies, scores should be used as a guide rather than absolute truth. We encourage buyers to review detailed product sustainability information before making purchases.
